ISAS is connected to any pipe that already exists on the reservoir. It means that no ring main, no foam mixers or dispensers are required. Pressure sources are also not needed as well as pumps, external sources of water, foam and electricity. In other words, we have excluded all unnecessary, ineffective and expensive equipment that used to make the process of fire-extinguishing more complicated and required costly and difficult servicing. Another important detail: during fire-extinguishing we did not use any systems for cooling of reservoir walls. Infrared cameras showed that after complete extinguishment the temperature of the reservoir walls was 700°C but ISAS system turned out to be so efficient that no burning-back took place. Here I should remind that petrol starts burning at so low a temperature as 300°C.
